coffee a.k.a devil's fruit. caffe(italian), kahve(turkish), qahwa(arabic)

this is like a coffee week for me. been drinking like two cups a day. maybe age is catching up with my taste bud. talked to my barista fren two days back and voila! he called me up from starbucks the next day informing me that his manager requires part-timers. appointment is fixed, tomorrow morning.

history of coffee;

an ethiopian sherperd, kaldi, noticed that his sheeps became hyperactive when they ate the bright red berries. the monks were angry that kaldi ate the forbidden fruit and disposed the beans into the fire. they were smitten by the intoxicating aroma of the freshly roasted coffee and the rest is history.(prior to 1000 A.D)

the muddy waters at the bottom of the coffee cup, were used by the arabian and turkish fortune tellers.

introduced to italians by trading with the turks. first believed by some Christians to be the devil's drink. Luckily, Pope Vincent III decided to taste it before he banished it. He loved it so much that he went so far as to remove any "evil residue" by baptizing it, claiming that "coffee is so delicious it would be a pity to let the evildoers have exclusive use of it."(1600)

coffee guides for idiots;

coffee is today the second most traded commodity, behind petroleum.

Espresso: This is the classic Italian coffee; short and black with a very intense aroma and aftertaste. The most basic, the espresso happens to be the building block for all other coffees.

Cafe Americano: Equal portions of espresso and hot water.

Cappuccino: One-third espresso, one-third hot milk and one-third steamed milk. Dusted with cocoa powder.

Mocha: Espresso mixed with chocolate powder or chocolate syrup, and topped with hot milk (and cocoa powder, optional).

Caffe Latte: A shot of espresso topped with hot milk.

Kahlua: *IMPORTANTE* no idiot! u can't order this at starbucks. this is a coffee liquer. if u go to a bar, try ordering white russian(my fav cocktail) ingredients: kahlua, vodka, cream/milk. garnished with a cherry.

i love coffee as a consumer, but to be a barista? hmmm, i actually fancy working in a bookstore like kino or borders. perhaps i'll try my luck after starbucks interview and let God decide my path.
